MARCUS CONNOLLY IS A NEW WAVE OF POP ARTIST NOT AFRAID TO BREAK THE BOUNDARIES OF POP.

 

Marcus Connolly (21) is a singer songwriter and alt pop artist hailing from Manchester (UK) and reaching an audience all around the globe. Marcus has shared his life online since he was 16. Starting his journey posting vlogs of his life to eventually sharing more of his vision and creativity through music and in late 2018 securing a distribution deal from new age label and distribution service AWAL. ​ 

 

Marcus’ music is a reflection of his life and mindscape. He released his debut mixtape DIGITAL DREAMLAND (November 15th, 2019) a concept project based around a break-up and escapism culture and it soon gathered a small cult following and garnered the attention of Spotify playlists and underground music blogs pinning Marcus as one to watch in the underground pop and 'hyperpop' scene. The mixtape was labeled as ‘Saccharine sweet pop’ by The Vanity Project and received praise for its hyper produced and experimental nature. 

 

The lead single BURST MY BUBBLE found itself being featured on Spotify’s ‘All New, All Now’' and ‘Hot New Bands’' Editorial curated playlists and promo singles from the project such as ELECTRIC BLUE was voted #1 on The Q Review’s weekly music chart.

 

Following up from this Marcus released the lead single from his promised second mixtape FRESH HELL on February 14th 2020 with his music video debut shot by Ben Wescott. The song, titled DRIPPIN’ was a breakup anthem about not really being over someone and exampled the departure in sound Marcus was hoping to create with this second mixtape. The song was produced by Manchester based Pop Producer Mattu and was followed by the second single BOY, INTERRUPTED, a noisy punk rock inspired track about loosing control of your mental state. Both tracks have seen success with being playlisted and covered by major platforms such as Grindr’s ‘New Music Frigay’ and the twitch streaming show Queerentine.
